Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 83 year old mother is suffering from a Bakers cyst on one leg behind her knee and from painful arthritis in the groin area of her other leg. She has been using a cane to walk, although pretty much just around the house, but is now using her walker more frequently. She received cortisone shots in the back of her knee and in her groin area 6 days ago but, her sysptoms are no better. Most recently, she is experiencing unexpected bowel problems and last night slept in a chair because she never knows when she need to have a bowel movement. My dad is living and is with her but I am concerned. What do you suggest?
Hello, A Baker's cyst will usually resolve on its own over time. However if it is causing a lot of pain or is very large then an orthopedic surgeon could drain it. Groin pain is often referred pain from the hip area. Make sure that she sees an orthopedic doctor soon. Regards
